Fort Greene condo tower resistance

Although the number of condos planned for Fort Greene last year was among the highest of any Brooklyn neighborhood, developer Galit Network is having trouble getting approval for its proposed 40-story residential tower on Flatbush Avenue because of a district rezoning. Galit initially planned a 35-story tower but now wants to add five stories to the project. The area Galit’s building will rise in recently saw a shift in its district boundaries, and it now lies in City Councilwoman Letitia James’ territory. James is opposed to green-lighting the proposal because she says the condo will not have enough affordable housing units. more [Brownstoner]
