City announces BAM cultural district developer

Full Spectrum of NY and studioMDA will develop a mixed-use complex in the planned Brooklyn Academy of Music cultural district, the city announced. The firms, which will work with Behnisch Architects, are owned by local minorities. The development will build 187 housing units, 40,000 square feet of cultural space and 4,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The project at the corner of Fulton Street and Ashland Place will feature a green design and half the residential units will be affordable. Full Spectrum has built eco-friendly buildings in Harlem targeted to middle-income residents. TRD
