City’s residential permits drop by half

Residential permits in the city are on the decline, falling by 50 percent last month compared to the same period last year, according to the data released today by the U.S. Census Bureau. Only 223 permits were issued in April, compared to 459 permits last year. The sharpest declines were in Queens and Brooklyn, which dropped by 51 percent and 48 percent, respectively. The first four months of the year have seen a 48 percent drop from the same period last year.
