Mega resort planned for Riverhead

A $2 billion resort complex planned for Riverhead, Long Island, includes an indoor ski mountain, water park, winery, spa, campgrounds and more. The project would span about 6,000 acres on property once used by the Navy to test aircraft. The plan needs at least 18 approvals from city agencies, mostly dealing with environmental concerns. The Long Island Pine Barrens Society fears the mega-project would turn the area into a “modern-day Orlando.”
