Openings and closings: Marea to open May 1, Mi Cocina closed

Accademia di Vino will open another location in the former Docks space at 2427 Broadway Near 85th Street this summer. Pier i Cafe will open at West 70th Street in Riverside Park South May 1. Marea, at 240 Central Park South, former home of San Domenico, is holding its official opening event May 1. Alice Kwartler is coming to 445 Park Avenue, according to the spring 2009 retail report by Faith Hope Consolo, chairman of the retail leasing and sales division at Prudential Douglas Elliman. Panda Restaurant, on 46th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues, was slated to open today. Spanish clothing chain Desigual opened recently at 594 Broadway. Quinto Quarto was slated to open at 14 Bedford Street in the West Village yesterday. Third Rail Coffee should open at 240 Sullivan Street within a month. Fort Defiance, a cafe and bar in Red Hook run by food writer St. John Frizell, is expected to open next month. Also in Red Hook, Calexico should be open at 122 Union Street in three weeks. Argentinian-inspired restaurant the Flying Cow opened Friday night at 2 Hope Street in Williamsburg. Calpurnia, a restaurant, is expected to open Thursday at 387 Court Street in Carroll Gardens. This weekend, the Westchester Bank at 2001 Central Park Avenue in Yonkers will hold its grand opening on Saturday at noon, according to a press release.

The P&G bar at the corner of 73rd Street and Amsterdam Avenue has been gutted. Mi Cocina, at 626 Hudson Street, has been closed permanently by the Department of Taxes and Finance. The landlord reportedly hopes to rent out the space as another restaurant. TRD
