239 Gibson Lane in Sagaponack topped Town & Country’s list of the 10 most expensive sales for 2010, with a price of $43.5 million. Seven of the top sales occurred in the second half of the year, with spots two through four on the list taken by East Hampton residences. “As sales activity continues to build momentum, we should see 2011 reports show both increases in the number of sales and total home sales volume,” Judi Desiderio, CEO of Town & Country, said. In 2009, womenswear designer Tory Burch purchased the Howard Grittis mansion at 500 Ox Pasture Road, which ranks number five on the list, with a sale price of $16 million. House number seven on the list, 55 Dune Road, was developed by David Wine, former vice chairman of the Related Companies, and received the American Institute of Architects’ top prize of “design excellence” for Long Island residential projects last December.
