New hotel for the East Village?

The East Village could be getting a hotel. Curbed reported that a new nine-story structure with four rooms per floor is proposed for 27 East 4th Street, between Lafayette Street and the Bowery, where a one-story garage currently stands.

Plans from SRA Architecture + Engineering will be presented to the Landmarks Preservation Commission tomorrow. They call for an insulated glass storefront and the building to be encased in pre-cast stone.

Curbed speculated that the proposal, slated to be presented tomorrow, will raise a discussion about how the hotel will impact the landmarked Merchant’s House Museum, which is located next door. [Curbed]
