David Schwimmer’s gutted EV townhouse revealed

The new home of former “Friends” star David Schwimmer, who skirted the Landmarks Preservation Commission and demolished the East Village townhouse he purchased just before it could get landmark designation, is now visible, EV Grieve reported. The scaffolding at 331 East Sixth Street came down this weekend, it seems, revealing a new brown facade and much larger windows than the previous home boasted.

Schwimmer bought the five-story, circa-1852 townhouse for $4.1 million in 2010.

Neighbors were enraged in February, when the star moved ahead with the demolition of the existing townhouse, between First and Second avenues, despite multiple letters from the LPC warning that the home was soon to be landmarked. [EV Grieve] –Guelda Voien
