By Design inks 22K SF lease at 1441 Broadway

Apparel company By Design has inked a 21,711-square-foot lease at 1441 Broadway, joining other fashion notables such as Jones New York and Tommy Hilfiger in the building, the New York Observer reported.

The full-floor space, formerly occupied by Liz Claiborne parent Fifth and Pacific Companies, will function as both an office space and a showroom. Richard Doolittle of Murray Hill Properties represented the landlord and Mark Kritzer of Millennium Realty represented By Design.

“We’re glad to have them and we’ve almost backfilled all the space in the building – they’re a welcome addition,” Bruce Block, an executive with building owner L.H. Charney & Associates, told the Observer. “They’re in the apparel and fashion industry and our building is predominately fashion. They will be able to use some of the existing build-out space on the floor.”

The 33-story, 460,730-square-foot building has 10,000 square feet of retail space. The building’s lobby was recently renovated and the elevators are being updated, Block told the Observer.
