The southward-creeping development of Crown Heights is stretching below Eastern Parkway, and the latest sign is a plan to convert a church complex into a five-story residential building with 165 apartments.

Part of the St. Ignatius Catholic Church complex at 267 Rogers Avenue, between Carroll and Crown streets, is to give way to a 112,256-square-foot building, according to Department of Buildings documents cited by Brownstoner. Architects Think Architecture and Design are designing the property, for which demolition applications have already been filed.

The church owns the property, according to public records, but the building permits list 1267 Rogers Avenue LLC as the owner, raising questions as to whether the site has recently changed hands, Brownstoner said. [Brownstoner]Julie Strickland
