WEEKENDEDITION Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen has finally sold his 292-acre private island off the coast of Washington for $8 million.

Allen purchased the island in the San Juans back in 1992, hoping to build his home there. But the remote island, which is accessible only by plane or boat and has no electricity, proved too inconvenient and Allen relisted the island for $25 million in 2005, according to Curbed.

In 2011, he dropped the price to $13.5 million and now Allen has accepted an offer of a mere $8 million – roughly what he originally paid for it. [Curbed]Christopher Cameron
