Brookfield to double public space at Manhattan West

WEEKENDEDITION Brookfield Properties has announced that it will double the amount of open public space at its $4.5 billion Manhattan West project.

Brookfield has filed to change the zoning of the development so that it can build more than two acres of plazas at the base of its skyscraper complex, according to DNAinfo.

“Brookfield prides itself on great place-making, not just developing buildings,” Sabrina Kanner, a senior vice president for the developer, told Community Board 4.

The project, which is scheduled for completion in 2020, is composed of five buildings between West 31st and West 33rd streets, from Ninth Avenue to Dyer Avenue. [DNAinfo]Christopher Cameron
