Rendering of Carlyle’s Brooklyn condo-hotel revealed
Latest real estate project in suddenly hot Schermerhorn Street area
The builders of a 19-story condo-hotel in Brooklyn are giving the public a glimpse of what’s to come.
Developers the Carlyle Group and Flank Development, which just received permits for 140 Schermoerhorn Street in Boerum Hill, have posted a rendering of the 406,628-square-foot structure they plan to build.
The new structure will house 140 apartments, along with a hotel, nearly 100,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and a community space, according to New York Yimby, which saw the rendering. The building’s 120-foot-high street-walls will conform to surrounding structures, but the details of the design, by Goldstein Hill & West, are still unclear.
Carlyle Group and Flank Development bought the site for $38.5 million at the end of 2012, according to property records. The parking lot currently occupying the space is being excavated, with the entire project set for completion in 2016.
