Commercial broker Jeffrey Rosenblatt is leaving industry giant Newmark Grubb Knight Frank for a boutique firm.

Rosenblatt will join Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance, a small firm making the big city push, according to Crain’s.

“It’s a smaller boutique firm that is national and that’s a rare combination,” Rosenblatt said. “It’s a great group of people here and there’s a lot of communication within the firm. It reminds me of earlier days in my career in a really good way.”

During his five-year tenure at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, Rosenblatt handled some large deals, including a 70,000-square-foot lease by CUNY’s School for Professional Studies at 119 West 31st Street and another 70,000-square-foot deal for the New York Film Academy at 17 Battery Park in lower Manhattan.

He also helped arrange a deal for nearly 30,000 square feet for the Department of Motor Vehicles at 21 Penn Plaza. And most recently, he finished a 13,700-square-foot lease for the Big East NCAA basketball conference at 655 Third Avenue.

Rosenblatt said the move would allow him to better compete for clients.

“There is a lot less in-house competition and politics, and here I can compete for business I otherwise might not have been able to try to win,” Rosenblatt said. [Crain’s]Christopher Cameron
