Permits have been filed with the city’s Department of Buildings to construct a residential building at 14-33 31st Avenue in Queens, in between Astoria and Long Island City.The building. which’ll be 40,999 square feet, will house 56 apartments. The structure will be five stories and 50 feet tall.

Sithonia LLC is developing the property, which is being designed by Queens-based Caliendo Architects.

The new development will occupy the space that formerly housed the L. B. Russell Chemical Plant. Demolition permits were filed last year. The site will still likely need remediation efforts. No completion date has been announced for the project. [NY Yimby] – Claire Moses
