Developer M. Melnick & Co. is building a 17-story, mixed-use building near the old Yankee Stadium – the first high-rise in the neighborhood since it was rezoned in 2009 to permit development up to 30 stories.

Located at 810 River Avenue in the South Bronx, the building will have 134 units averaging 933 square feet, according to 6sqft. SLCE Architects is designing the building, which will measure a total of 151,250 square feet.

The first two floors will house 24,500-square-feet of retail space, plus another 1,680-square-feet of community space.

The building will also have a 61-car garage to accommodate 40 percent of its apartments, according to zoning requirements. Other amenities include a common laundry room, gym, media lounge, recreation room, outdoor space and 67 bike parking spots. [6sqft] – E.B. Solomont
