Brunelleschi’s Dome it’s not, but one Little Italy penthouse sure has some surprises to offer. The 6,000-square-foot co-op in the historic Police Building at 240 Centre Street is on the market for a very expressive sum of $39.9 million.

The four-bedroom, five-bathroom apartment might challenge Megan Ellison’s circular UFO unit as the most unusual in the 1909 limestone building. The penthouse owners, Altamarea restaurant group CEO Ahmass Fakahany and wife Alsun Keogh, purchased an adjoining unit several years back and discovered a hidden 40-foot room behind the tower clock, according to Curbed.

Once home to Calvin Klein and Steffi Graf, the apartment underwent a full design do-over, with a 1930s Parisian flair incorporated into the redesign. The unit also features 1,500 feet of outdoor space. L.G. Calka’s Lisa Calka has the listing.

A former NYPD gym in the landmarked Police Building was listed for $31.5 million last year, but the duplex never sold. [Curbed]James Kleimann
