The development future of Governors Island remains very much up in the air, but at least it probably won’t include one thing: college campuses. Mayor Bloomberg said recently that city-based colleges and universities wouldn’t want to expand to Governors Island because any campuses there would be isolated. In 2003, both Bloomberg and Gov. Pataki said that the City University of New York would open a campus on the island, but that plan has since stalled. more [Villager]
