NYU will lose its lease at 15 Cliff Street in the Financial District after the spring semester because the building is slated to be converted into condos. The building currently houses 350 NYU students. Village activists are concerned that the loss of the lease – as well as the university’s likely decision to not renew a lease on another Financial District dorm at 200 Water Street that expires in 2009 – will result in the university seeking to build more housing in the Village, which many believe is overrun with the school’s students and buildings. more [Sun]
