Hedge funds are paying top dollar to lease space in Midtown towers like the GM Building, 9 West 57th St., the Seagram Building and Lever House. The in-demand buildings offer status-symbol addresses and command sky-high rents; new leases at the GM Building have gone for as much as $200 a square foot.
