Brooklyn park costs may skyrocket

Construction costs for the Brooklyn Bridge Park will likely rise much higher than the $150 million currently budgeted by the city and state for the project, according to Geoffrey Croft, president of NYC Park Advocates. The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy will release the final design and cost estimate for the 1.3-mile park next month. Luxury condos on one end of the future public park will pay for its upkeep, a plan that has met with fierce community opposition. more [NYDN]
