New architect for Riverside South

Pritzker Prize-winning architect Christian de Portzamparc has been chosen to design the next three buildings in the Upper West Side’s 13-block-long Riverside South development, where Costas Kondylis has designed many of the existing buildings. The new buildings would have a total of 3.2 million square feet of office, hotel and residential space between 59th Street and 61st Street — 35 percent more space than originally planned. A rezoning proposal is expected to go before the Department of City Planning in the next few weeks. more [NYO]
