MTA stockpiles UES units

The MTA is attempting to rent rent-stabilized apartments on the Upper East Side as they become vacant to make way for construction of the Second Avenue subway. The MTA is looking to shore up empty units, because if the agency needs to acquire rent-stabilized units with tenants in them, it must pay hefty relocation fees to find those tenants comparable housing. more [Metro]
