Building code revamp to be proposed

A document three years in the making prepared with the help of developers, architects and government officials will propose an overhaul of the city’s building code. The proposal, which is modeled on the International Building Code used in many U.S. cities, will be presented to City Hall this month. A representative from the Real Estate Board of New York familiar with the proposal said it will result in an increase in the city’s already high construction costs. more [Sun]
