Swig protesters face the music

April 30, 2007 12:00AM

Dozens of Sheffield tenants and Councilwoman Gale Brewer held a protest yesterday to decry developer Kent Swig’s construction work at the 322 West 57th Street building. The tenants say Swig’s workers are releasing asbestos into the air and putting current tenants’ health at risk as he transforms the building into a luxury condo. Swig hired a marching band to play during the protest. “You could hear the band down the whole block,” said Brewer’s spokeswoman, Rosalba Rodriguez. “The tenants were dancing to the music and speaking in between music breaks.” more [Metro]
