Financial District retail rises

Luxury retailers like Hermes, Thomas Pink and Tiffany & Co. have either opened or are soon to open stores in the Financial District, highlighting the extent to which the area has rebounded since 9/11. And high rents are following that rebound. “The Broadway retail corridor from Battery Park to Chambers Street has seen some of the largest rent increases in the city over the last year. Median retail rents are now $200 per square foot along the strip. Only four years ago, the median was $75 per square foot,” said David Falk, a principal at Newmark Knight Frank. more [Sun]
