he city’s fire department and contractors have agreed to form a joint advisory council to create strict safety rules for construction jobs. A Fire Safety Advisory Council will make New York City “a safer place for construction workers, firefighters and the public alike,” said Louis J. Coletti, president and CEO of the Building Trades Employers’ Association. The council will aim to prevent incidents like the August fire at the former Deutsche Bank building, which killed two firefighters.
