Residents on the Far West Side of Manhattan are teaming up with City Council speaker Christine Quinn to push for a historic district just south of the Hudson Rail Yards. Developers are worried about the impact a historic district would have on rapidly developing area. If approved, 55 buildings between 28th and 25th streets and Tenth and Twelfth avenues would be protected, including the block-long Starrett-Lehigh Building. Quinn said the designation would not hinder the development of Hudson Yards.
