Fulton Transit Center behind schedule

Construction of the Fulton Transit Center, the Metropolitan Transportation Board project that will connect 11 subway lines underground just east of the World Trade Center, is behind schedule by at least a year. The center’s first phase was originally slated for completion in early 2009, but will be delayed by at least 12 to 18 months. The agency is seeking alternatives to its opulent entrance design, which put the project over budget. It is considering one proposal that would build a performing arts center in its place.
