Brooklyn Bridge Park construction costs will top $300 million, double
the original 2002 estimate of $150 million. State Senator Mary Connor
said the original estimates were outdated and that money would be found
to pay for the project. The cost of the project has critics crying foul over the construction of luxury condos that are supposed to fund the park’s operating costs.
