LIC development critics want more affordable housing

Long Island City’s Hunters Point South development plans to make 60 percent of the 5,000 units affordable housing, available to families of four making $55,000 to $158,000 a year, and individuals with incomes of at least $35,000 a year. Housing advocates want the apartments to be more affordable, as LIC’s average income for a family of four is $44,000. Community Board 2 planned to vote on the project today.
