Cipriani leaving 200 Fifth Ave early

The Cipriani organization is moving out of 200 Fifth Avenue on January 31, 2009, years before its lease expiration, allowing landlord L & L Holdings to complete interior renovations and retail repositioning at the building. Cipriani and L&L have had a shaky past. L&L tried to evict Cipriani from its 15,000-square-foot space last year over its indictment for tax fraud. Cipriani paid $10 million to settle the charges, and then sued L&L for $20 million, saying the claim was irrelevant to its tenancy.
