Senate likely to pass foreclosure bill

The Senate is expected to pass a housing rescue bill this week that aims to prevent foreclosure and strengthen oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The House is likely to amend the bill, so it’s unclear when the final bill will be passed. Meanwhile federal officials rushed to reassure investors after shares in Fannie and Freddie plunged today.
