Former Tishman Construction accountant pleads guilty to stealing $2.8M

The Manhattan district attorney announced today that a former project accountant at Tishman Construction pleaded guilty to stealing $2.8 million from the company by using phony invoices. John Hoeffner, 47, forged vendor invoices and altered vendor checks while working on a project at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University from March 2006 to May 2008, which a Tishman auditor discovered during a review of the company’s projects. Hoeffner was arrested on June 13, and his sentencing is scheduled for September 17. He is expected to receive seven to 14 years in prison and pay restitution of $1.42 million. TRD
