Fort Greene residents are throwing a party on Tuesday to bring a new
independent bookstore to the neighborhood. At the party, local group
Fort Greene Indie Bookstore Initiative will greet Jessica Stockton
Bagnulo, whose business plan for a bookstore won $15,000 from the
Brooklyn Public Library’s “Power Up!” competition. Fort Greene is one
of the areas Bagnulo is considering for her store. The Fort Greene
Association’s retail committee surveyed 380 residents last year, and 75
percent of them wanted more choices in bookstores.
