The $1 billion 911 emergency call center planned for Morris Park in the Bronx is expected to proceed as planned, despite a unanimous vote against the project by Community Board 11 last Thursday. Residents believe the center, which would rise at a nine-acre site there, will strain the area’s public transportation and car traffic, and that the 37-story structure will appear inconsistent in a neighborhood of one- and two-family homes. Police officials had originally said that the building, which is in an area zoned for manufacturing, would be 17 stories high.
