Former fund manager pays $9M on Sutton Place South

Sharon Haugh Stein, who filed an age discrimination lawsuit against British fund manager Schroders PLC six years ago, bought a cooperative at 1 Sutton South Place at 57th Street for $9 million.

The purchase, from clothing designers James and Whitney Fairchild, closed on June 27, according to property records posted today.

Stein, the former chairwoman of Schroder Investment Management North America Inc., was 55 when she was terminated in May, 2002, and brought the lawsuit in October that year. The case was dismissed in December 2003, according to the federal courts Web site.
