Plans are in the works for convention centers in five neighborhoods in Queens. The largest would be a 400,000-square-foot convention center in the Willets Point development, which the City Council is slated to vote on later this month. Aqueduct race track, Citi Field, Silvercup Studios in Long Island City, and downtown Jamaica are other prospective convention center sites. Business leaders said they hoped the centers would draw conventions and business to Queens rather than Brooklyn.
