New York’s first 24-hour clinic open

Beth Israel Medical Center has opened New York’s first 24-hour health
clinic at 202-204 West 23rd Street, at Seventh Avenue. All-night clinics are generally
designed to provide quicker and cheaper alternatives to the emergency room for urgent health needs,
but the Beth Israel clinic also offers routine care such as cholesterol tests,
allergy treatment and diabetes maintenance, hoping to serve patients who cannot
go the doctor during normal business hours.
Beth Israel’s parent company may open additional clinics elsewhere in the city if the first is successful.
