judge has issued a temporary restraining order to stop the
controversial reopening of the Brooklyn House of Detention. State
Senator-elect Daniel Squadron said, “I hope it is a sign that a new day
of community input has dawned, and that we can make progress together
toward replacing the jail with affordable housing and [a] middle school.”
