Lefrak heiress buys UES condo brokered by his granddaughter

The granddaughter of the late legendary Queens developer Samuel Lefrak brokered the sale of a $2.55 million, two-bedroom condominium unit to her mother, real estate heiress and author Denise Lefrak.

Lefrak went into contract on the 1,576-square-foot condo at 255 East 74th Street in April 2007, and closed December 2, according to city property records published yesterday. The city record was filed under the name Denise Lefrak, not her married name, Denise Lefrak Calicchio.

Lefrak, along with co-authors Eunice David and Kathryn Livingston, wrote the 2007 book, “High Rise Low Down,” a soft-edged history of Manhattan’s luxury apartment buildings and the wealthy people who live in them.

Lefrak’s daughter, Allison Koffman, a vice president at Sotheby’s International Realty, was listing the property for $2.7 million on her Web site.

Samuel Lefrak, a third-generation developer, built projects such as the 5,000-unit Lefrak City in Queens, and the 92-acre Battery Park City in Manhattan, New York’s first major waterfront landfill community in more than 100 years. He died in 2003 at the age of 85.
