The Real Deal New York

Real estate experts speed date

An example of what tonight’s RE Speed Networking could look like.

Sixty real estate professionals are going to “speed date” with their colleagues at an event tonight. The attendees will sit at tables and rotate every three minutes, giving them “30 rapid introductions to valuable people,” said Ryan Slack, CEO of Greenpearl.com, which is marketing the event. Held at the Marquee in Manhattan, the event is hosted by RE Speed Networking, which regularly holds real estate speed networking events. The five dozen attendees — which include people from Massey Knakal Realty Services and GFI Capital Resources Group — paid $49 for the dating shindig (the cost would have been $70 at the door), and were asked to sign up in one of 16 categories, from architects to attorneys to brokers to developers. Event goers will be set up with people in a variety of real estate fields, said Slack, the former CEO of PropertyShark.com. The event will be followed by a reception, which costs $10 in advance and $20 at the door, for successful “dates” to keep schmoozing. TRD
