Report says N.J. properties are over-assessed

According to a report by property tax analysis Web site EasyTaxFit.com,
29 percent of New Jersey homeowners should appeal their property tax
assessments because their properties have been over-assessed. The
report found that about half the property records available through the
New Jersey Division of Taxation have incomplete information, like
missing square footage, which makes it difficult for homeowners to
determine whether their home has been accurately assessed. The report
said that in some communities, residential properties have been
over-taxed by at least 15 percent. TRD
