Openings and closings: Amy Ruth’s files for bankruptcy, sandwich shop to open

Meanwhile, Irish chocolatier Lily O’Brien has opened at 36 West 40th Street. Another chocolatier, Jacques Torres, is considering opening an ice cream stand next to his Dumbo location this summer. Brouwerij Lane is open now in Greenpoint. A ramen restaurant is coming soon to 119 Second Avenue, former home of retailer Love Saves the Day. Two locations of the recently shuttered Circuit City have been claimed by other retailers, with Best Buy taking a 31,000-square-foot space in Brooklyn and PC Richards a space of the same size in College Point, Queens. Flight Club, a sneaker store, recently signed a seven-year lease for 1,000 square feet at 267 Lafayette Street. A temporary bicycle shop, Jack and Jimbo’s, is open through April at 400 Bleecker Street, an addition to the existing Jack Spade store. Boutique Smith + Butler will be opening a temporary store from March 27 through May 15 on the Lower East Side. Num Pang Sandwich Shop will open at 21 East 12th Street, between University and Fifth avenues, Friday. Pier 66 Maritime reopens May 1, but may open earlier if the weather permits. Baja Fresh, on Lexington between 45th and 46th streets, will open in May. TRD
