Openings and closings: Gino will remain open, sneaker retailers to close

David Yurman will close its 729 Madison Avenue location this fall to open a new store across the street at 712 Madison Avenue, at 63rd Street, the store said. Gino, which planned to close if the economy did not improve, has renewed its lease and no longer plans on closing. Apna Taj, an Indian buffet, has taken over the former East Ocean space on 55th Street between Lexington and Third avenues. Blank Sl8, a gallery that will rotate the work of various fashion designers, is coming to the northwest corner of West 41st Street and Eighth Avenue. Katie Lee Joel, who won the NY Burger Bash last year, plans to open a downtown restaurant, Logan County, later this year.

La Carbonara has opened at 202 West 14th Street. Cabin Down Below, a lounge, has opened under Pizza Shop at 110 Avenue A. Ale et Ange has opened on Orchard Street on the Lower East Side. Boat-shoe company Sebago will open a temporary store at 125 Rivington Street between March 27 and April 20. In Brooklyn, F. Martinella, a deli, opened last week at 119 Court Street, at State Street, in Downtown Brooklyn. Fork & Pencil, a boutique, opened this weekend at 221a Court Street in Cobble Hill, in what was formerly the home of the Brooklyn Artisans Gallery. The restaurant space under Rose Live Music in Williamsburg has reopened as Vutera, at 345 Grand Street. Wink Eco Beauty Bar has opened at 602 Vanderbilt Avenue, between Prospect Place and St. Mark’s Avenue in Prospect Heights.

But stores are also closing. Oilily, on Madison Avenue between 68th and 69th streets, is temporarily closed, and the space is for rent, according to a sign on the storefront. Allegra Hicks, on Madison Avenue between 78th and 79th streets, is out of business. Downtown sneaker retailer Clientele has closed, and another downtown sneaker store, Nort/Recon is having a liquidation sale and plans to relocate to Brooklyn. TRD
