The Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s fare hike and service cuts
could result in cuts to subway lines and dirtier stations. A decline in the transit system could slow development and gentrification in some neighborhoods. When the Z line is shut down, it will take longer for residents living in the area to get to Manhattan. People might be deterred from moving to neighborhoods like Bushwick if the transportation system worsens.
