Queens tenants battle landlord in court

According to NY1, Schleicher Court Mansion tenants in Queens faced off
in court this week against their landlord, Eva Rohan, who is suing them
for failing to pay rent for the past few months. However, the state
Division of Housing documents show the tenants only owe $1 a month in
rent until their services, like heat and water, are restored. After being forced to
leave their homes last summer by the Department of Buildings because of
electrical violations, the tenants said they returned home in February to find the building
lacked gas, heat, and hot water. The mansion, which is currently
being considered for landmark status, still has 124 outstanding
violations, six of which were issued only a few days ago.
