Baked by Melissa will open a second location at 7 East 14th Street. The Southwest Porch at Bryant Park will be open for lunch and stay open through the evening. The old Limelight nightclub on Sixth Avenue and 20th Street will be transformed into a retail store. Caravaggio has opened in the former Coco Pazzo space at 23 East 74th Street. Lucy Brownes has finally opened in the former Steak Frites space at 225 Varick Street. A second location of Bistro Le Steak Bar & Lounge has opened at 227 East 56th Street. A satellite location of Chinese Mirch has opened at 1820 Second Avenue. The Seafood spot Cowgirl Sea Horse has opened at 259 Front Street near the South Street Seaport. The New York Kids Club formerly at 265 West 87th Street will be moving to 601 Amsterdam Avenue at 89th Street. Gansevoort Street Café is slated to open in the former Florent restaurant space at 69 Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District. A new cocktail lounge may be coming to Bryant Park next summer. A 10-year lease has been signed for a new liquor store at 1752 Second Avenue. East Dumpling House has opened at 106th Street and Broadway. Agua Dulce will be opening on Ninth Avenue between 53rd and 54th streets.
In Brooklyn, Rebecca’s Latin Cuisine has opened at 218 Hoyt Street in Boerum Hill. Lucali Pizza at 575 Henry Street in Carroll Gardens has reopened following a temporary shuttering due to a kitchen fire. Newly opened deli F. Martinella has closed at 119 Court Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Umi Nom Kuma will open July 28 at 433 Dekalb Avenue. Piccolo Café on Columbia Street in the Columbia Street Waterfront District may be closed for good.
Amid these openings, there have been some closings. French restaurant La Belle Vie has shuttered at 184 Eighth Avenue in Chelsea. Chanterelle will close for almost two months August 16 for renovations. The Icon restaurant at the W’s Court Hotel at 130 East 39th Street has closed, but another restaurant may take over the space. After rumors that New York would receive its first Kogi Truck, the truck will not be coming to the East Coast anytime soon. Café Boulad at 20 East 76th Street will be closed for a month for renovations. Outdoor dining space will not be included at Danny Meyers’ new Gramercy Park Hotel restaurant. Vietnamese joint Tet on Avenue A has closed. Gomi boutique on 6th Street and Avenue A is closing. Upland Trading on 13th Street between Second and Third avenues is closing. Zen Palate at 40 John Street in the Financial District is closed. The restaurant’s Hell’s Kitchen location will remain open. Kashmir Express on Eighth Avenue between 39th and 40th streets looks like it’s closed for good. TRD
