Openings and closings: Applebee’s opens, Norimaki closes

Kimberly Taylor boutique opened at 400 West 14th Street on the corner of Ninth Avenue. David Chang of Momofuku fame plans to open a new restaurant in the Chambers hotel at 15 West 56th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues. Cello Wine Bar opened at 229 East 53rd Street between Second and Third avenues. El Rey del Sabor opened a third Mexican food cart on the corner of 28th Street and Sixth Avenue. A new Tasti-D-Lite store has opened at 77 Greenwich Avenue on the corner of Seventh Avenue, in the old Chez Brigitte space. The self-proclaimed “seafood lounge,” Bongo, opened a new location at 395 West Street on the corner of West Side Highway and West 10th Street.

The New York metro area Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar franchisee, Apple-Metro, plans to open six new Applebee’s locations this year. Two will be located in the Bronx, while the other four will operate in Flushing, Queens; Harlem and Westchester County.

In Brooklyn, Madarts Studios opened last month at 461 Fifth Avenue at the corner of 10th Street. Turkish restaurant Liman opened in Sheepshead Bay at 2710 Emmons Avenue on the corner of East 27th Street.

Norimaki at 224 West 35th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues will close at the end of the month. Tides seafood restaurant at 102 Norfolk Street between Delancey and Rivington streets has closed. Upper East Side restaurant Saucy at 1409 York Ave on the corner of 75th Street has closed. TRD
