The House has approved a proposal from Representative Edolphus Towns, to provide funding for park improvement in Fort Greene. Fort Greene Park will receive $300,000 for renovations, according to a press release from Towns’ office today. The renovations will include improvements to the park’s sidewalks, sign restoration and landscape improvement around the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument. Towns said that the park’s condition had been a growing concern. “Fort Greene is one of the great historical landmarks in the country but, unfortunately, many areas in the park have fallen into disrepair,” Towns said in the release.
